Age-related itching guide
As we age, people are often plagued by itching and scratching, especially at night, due to dry skin. This is usually caused by degenerative changes in the skin that lead to dryness (a lack of skin fatty acids) and itching. Frequent washing and bathing exacerbates age-related itching. Additional influences such as the environment, season, medications, and diet can exacerbate the condition of dry skin and thus the itching and scratching.
To prevent itching and scratching, the skin should be treated, even several times a day, initially with anti-inflammatory creams for itching, such as Dermaplan Itch Permanent Care, and subsequently with lipid-containing creams such as Dermaplan Lipid Balance to support the skin's natural oil production. Dermaplan offers three Dermaplan Itch Care and Dermaplan Lipid Balance products each, tailored to the respective skin type and condition, to combat itching and dry skin.
When using any skincare products, it's especially important to ensure they're free of cortisone, mineral oils, preservatives, perfumes, dyes, and silicones. Mineral oils and preservatives, in particular, can cause dry skin, itching, and even other skin irritations and skin cancer. Dermaplan therefore avoids these ingredients in all its itching and lipid balance products!
